Seward,
one of Alaska's oldest communities, sits at the head of Resurrection Bay on the
Kenai Peninsula. Only a 126 mile scenic drive from Anchorage, this
quaint little town of about 4,000 people, can also be reach by bus, cruise ship
or the Alaska Railroad. You'll find lots to do here, from trophy sport
fishing, hiking, kayaking, flight seeing, summer dogsled tours, sailing and
glacier and wildlife cruises. On July 4th, every year, is the Mount
Marathon race, where hundreds of dedicated ( or crazy ) souls run up 3.022 foot
Mount Marathon, and back down again. In January, folks get dressed up in
costume, and ( b-r-r-r-r-r-r ) jump into Resurrection Bay to raise money for the
American Cancer Society. The Harding Ice Field stretches for miles behind
the mountain, and out in Resurrection Bay, massive tidewater glaciers calve off
house size icebergs. In winter, you'll find a world of cross country
ski and snow machine trails. Seward is home to the Alaska Sealife
Center, a Marine Research, Education and Research Facility, affiliated
with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, School of Fisheries and Ocean
Sciences. Visitors will find a good variety of lodging, restaurants, tent
camping sites, RV parks, and visitor services.

Exit Glacier
You've

right up to the face of a glacier, almost within touching distance!
You'll be awestruck at this enormous wall of ice, (located in Kenai Fjords National Park south

glacier as Alaskan glaciers go. Easily accessible by car, Exit Glacier is a

by park rangers during the visitor season and wheelchair accessible restrooms are located in

The glacier is active and calving - falling ice is dangerous. The area
beyond the warning signs is strictly off limits. Please stay off the ice!

Annual Vehicle Pass, $15. Visitors with valid Golden Age or Golden Access
