Juneau   Nestled between the base of majestic mountains, and  the  waterfront of the Gastineau Channel is Juneau, Alaska's Capital City.  Juneau is a beautiful city, with brilliant wildflowers and lush terrain supplied by the Tongass Rainforest climate. Miners and Russian fur traders were among the earliest settlers to this area.   Visitors to Juneau will find unlimited adventure opportunities, from flightseeing to view massive glaciers, kayaking, rafting, and  hiking to  dogsledding, biking, snowboarding and skiing. You can even hike on a glacier!  Don't forget fishing - salmon and halibut charters are available, or try a remote fishing lodge.  Wildlife is abundant in the area, and can be viewed by taking the tramway to Mt Roberts, by checking out the largest concentration of brown bear in the world at nearby Admiralty Island National Monument, or by taking a whalewatching excursion, just to name a few.  See Juneau from the air - see mountains with alpine meadows, tidal beaches, rainforests, and of course, awe-inspiring, 100 foot tall, 1.5 mile wide Mendenhall Glacier.  Whatever your pleasure, you'll find the adventure you're looking for right here.

Gustavus
