Anvik

Anvik
Lodging
Located on the Anvik River, west of the Yukon River, this tiny  community 82 people, has historically been an Ingalik Indian Village.  Residents here rely heavily on subsistance activities for survival. Several residents trap or make handicrafts, and 50% of families engage in home gardening. Subsistence foods include salmon, moose, black bear, and small game and many families travel to fish camps during the summer.  Year-round wage-earning positions lie with the city, state and federal governments or local businesses.  Visitors to Anvik will find a paradise of fishing, hiking, hunting, wildlife viewing ( bear, moose, wolves, beavers and otters ) and  sightseeing.  The climate of Anvik is continental, with temperatures ranging from -60 to 87. Snowfall averages 110 inches, for 21 inches total precipitation per year. The Yukon River is ice-free from June through October, and access during the summer is by barge and float plane.
