Lake
Clark National Park and Preserve. Located
across Cook Inlet from Anchorage, this wilderness paradise encompasses
2.6 million acres, contains three National Wild Rivers, beautiful 50
mile long Lake Clark, two active volcanos, Alpine lakes, glaciers,
tundra, forests, and the convergence of the Aleutian and Alaska Mountain
Ranges. Visitors to this area will see bears, caribou, moose, coyotes,
and lynx, and in the two large nearby bays, beluga whales, harbor seals,
sea lions and porpoises. All camping is primitive and there is only one
maintained hiking trail. In addition to camping, the adventurers
to this pristine area will find it offers opportunities for hiking,
backpacking, flightseeing, river running, sport fishing, sight seeing,
mountaineering, bird watching, lake kayaking, hunting, photography and
wildlife viewing. Access to the Lake Clark region is by small
aircraft. Float planes may land on the many lakes throughout the area.
Wheeled planes land on open beaches, gravel bars, or private airstrips
in or near the park. Many acres of land within Lake Clark National Park
and Preserve are privately owned. Residents practice a subsistence
lifestyle. Average temperatures June through August range between 50 and
65 degrees, with considerable precipitation. Winter temperatures
can dip to below 40 degrees.

Hike, Fish, Relax in the Great Outdoors

Located in an absolutely gorgeous location at the
northeast end of Lake Clark,. this Lodge is one of the few lodges actually in
the Park. So much to do, choose from fishing, kayaking, hiking, photography,
beach walking, sightseeing cruises, river rafting, and wildlife viewing. This
is a
family-friendly lodge, NOT a hard-fishing,
hard-drinking trophy fishing lodge. The hosts' goal is for their guests to
have fun in the wilderness and develop an appreciation for wild places.
The Lodge usually books only 10 people at a time, unless a family/group
books the whole Lodge. Just think about booking a retreat/family group here. A
wilderness getaway is a great way to foster teamwork and camaraderie at your
next corporate or group retreat. Beats any boardroom. Groups or Family
Reunions up to 18 people. They operate 2 18' Lunds and a 21' enclosed
Hewescraft for fishing and exploring on the lake. Also available are 1 double
and 2 single kayaks and a canoe for guests to use. Also, try the river
float trips. There are multi-day trips on the Mulchatna and Chilikadrotna
rivers, and day trips on the Kijik.
